 Steven
Scharf,
also a native-born Southern Californian, takes part in
many musical activities in Los Angeles. He has performed
with Carlo Maria Giulini and the Los Angeles Philharmonic
in Los Angeles and on tour in Europe and has served as
a member of the Long Beach Symphony, both as performer
and as personnel manager. In 1988 Scharf became personnel
manager of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra; in addition
he contracts the orchestras for the Pasadena Pops Orchestra
and the Los Angeles Master Chorale. During the summer
he participates in the Oregon Bach Festival in Eugene
and the Stuttgart Bach Festival, both under the direction
of Helmuth Rilling, and in the San Luis Obispo Mozart
Festival. Scharf recently founded a Pasadena-based ensemble,
the Crown City Consort, serving as its Artistic Director
and conductor. |
